Solidarity Village for a Cool Planet

(6-10 December 2007)

The Indonesian People's Movement Against Neo-colonialism and Imperialism, together with La Via Campesina, Friends of the Earth International, Focus on the Global South, Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), Migrant Forum in Asia, ATTAC Japan, Stop the New Round Coalition, Philippines, Kilusang Mangingisda (Fisherfolk Movement-Philippines), Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU), Globalization Monitor, Hong Kong, Transnational Institute, FTA Watch Thailandis organizing the People's Conference and Action on Climate Change: Solidarity Village for a Cool Planet on 6-10 December 2007 in Bali, Indonesia.

 

The program will be held parallel to the 13th Conference of the Paties of he United Nations Framework Commission on Climate Change (13 UNFCCC) where discussions will be held on mitigation and adaptation fund, technological transfer and Reducing Emission from Deforestaion in Developing Countries (REDD).

 

The People's conference will provide a venue for workshops, debates and discussions on how the neoliberal development model has been creating climate change and global warming. There will be also special discussions on the issue of agro-fuel, adaptation of agriculture to climate change and global warming, and forging of a common position from people's movements.

 

The Solidarity Village for a Cool Planet will be a space for debates, peoples assemblies, conferences, self-organised workshops, cultural events, fiestas, symbolic events and informal gatherings.
